"Mikey" Fundraiser:

UPDATE 4/21/12: OK folks the final bill for Mikey is $2,343. I've updated the ChipIn link to reflect the final number. Thanks for everyone's support so far!! I'll post another update later this weekend.....now we are off to run a concession stand to raise money for the shelter pups at the Virginia Tech spring game. If you are going to the game please stop by out stand in the south end sone.

UPDATE: Meet "Mikey", a sweet little puppy who was hit by a car and taken to a local vet clinic. The surgery was performed last week and Mikey came through very well. The cost is lower than the initial estimate because a great Veterinarian and her staff donated their time. One leg was plated in two locations and the other leg was healing well enough on its own, so it was decided to leave that leg splinted.

The other good news is Mikey is in a foster home!

Below is a ChipIn to help offset the surgery costs. Feel free to forward the link. If you would rather donate directly through Paypal please use our email address: donations@mcfacc.org or click the following link:

Thanks!

The volunteers with Montgomery County Friends of Animal Care & Control, Inc. are now opening the county shelter for extended every Saturday from 12-4pm. During summer months we have someone in the shelter from 1 - 5 pm. Please come by for a visit!

Friends of Animal Care & Control is a shared dream of a number of local citizens who seek to do their part in bringing an end to the suffering and destruction of the lost, neglected and abandoned animals of our society.

Our immediate goal is improvement of conditions at the existing county shelter.

Our long term but primary goal is to provide direction and assistance to the county in the design, construction and operation of a new facility.

This along with an extensive outreach program encompassing public education, volunteer services and productive working relationships with related organizations. Our chance of success lies not only with the current volunteers, but with the many others we must recruit to embrace our vision.

We must gather together a broad spectrum of talent, ambition, initiative and information and combine it good old fashioned elbow grease! Within our dream lies a bright future for countless forgotten animals. We hope you will join us and help turn our dream into a reality!
